Invasive alien species (IAS) are one of the main causes of biodiversity loss in the world.
The Law 42/2007 of December 13, 2007of December 13, 2007, on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, defines an IAS as “an IAS that is introduced or established in a natural or semi-natural ecosystem or habitat and that is an agent of change and threat to native biological diversity, either because of its invasive behavior or because of the risk of genetic contamination”.
Animal Species Control works according to the Spanish State Legislation and that of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands.
